The month of August was busy but all our efforts have paid off beautifully. Our Executive Chef Adrian W. O'Herlihy represented our hotel in the prestigious Bangkok Chefs Charity Gala Dinner 2012, and we also found time to conduct our own charity work while marking HM the Queen's birthday at our resort throughout the month.

Chatchawal Supachayanont (back row, 9th from right), General Manager of Dusit Thani Pattaya, and the hotel staff and management pay tribute to HM the Queen of Thailand on the auspicious occasion of her birthday. Her Majesty's portrait was placed at the hotel's main lobby throughout August and guests, as well as hotel personnel, had the opportunity to extend their greetings and wishes to the beloved Queen in the signing book provided. Dusit Thani Pattaya participates in activities organized by Pattaya City and other establishments honouring special occasions, such as royal birthdays and anniversaries.

O'Herlihy (left), Executive Chef of Dusit Thani Pattaya, is congratulated by the hotel's General Manager, Mr Chatchawal Supachayanont at the Bangkok Chef's Charity Gala Dinner 2012 held on 20 August 2012 at the Royal Ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. Chef Adrian was one of the 22 executive chefs from leading hotels in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Thai Airways International who prepared a nine-course gourmet menu accompanied by some of the finest wines in the world. The prestigious event, presided over by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, generated more than THB 14 million –surpassing last year's amount of THB 12 million.

When thinking of sun, sea and sand, Hua Hin has always offered a charming atmosphere with fascinating attractions, as well as excellent food, a retro seaside culture, and beautiful mile-long beach. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) of Thailand has a particular fondness for this heart-warming town. It is there that he turned Klai Kangwon (Sans Souci), the European-style summer palace of his late Majesty King Prajadhipok (Rama VII), originally built in 1926, into a permanent residence. He has spent much time working and resting there over the past 60 years.

This month's featured main plates include Entrecote alla Griglia con Ruccola e Patate al Forno alla Toscana (Grilled prime aged New York sirloin steak, arugula salad, roast potatoes at THB 950); Branzino con Rucola e Pomodori Secchi (Grilled sea bass with arugula & sun-dried tomato sauce, fragrant leaf spinach, rosemary-roasted potatoes at THB 600) and Costoletta di Vitello alla Parmigiana con Purea di Patate e Verdure (Classic veal chop, thinly pounded and breaded, layered with plum tomato sauce and gratinated with mozzarella cheese, garnished with bacon-wrapped fine green beans and potato puree at THB 800).
